BASIC DETAILS
Job title: Administrative operative / consular section
Type of contract: Local contract, fixed-term for one year with a trial period of three months. Contract can be converted into a permanent contract after the expiry of the first year.
Start: August 1st 2025
Working time: full time – 37,5 hours a week.
Salary: depending on relevant work experience
Holiday arrangements: 20 days per year (in addition to 14 official holidays)
JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIES
The consular section handles visa applications, legalization requests, certificates and other official documents, and assists the Belgian community with all consular issues (identity and travel documents, nationality and civil status issues, legalization, certificates, assistance in the event of need...).
- As a front office operative: welcome visitors, inform and provide guidance about regulations and procedures (including by e-mail and phone), handle requests and provide consular assistance when needed…
- As a back office operative: handle visa applications (preliminary file review, documents check, software registration, applications follow-up...), prepare certificates and various official documents, contribute to the organisation of elections for Belgians, update various databases and our website, management of personal files of Belgians registered at the Embassy…
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Have a permanent residency in Qatar
- Education: Upper secondary education or relevant experience.
- Experience: relevant experience is an asset
- Languages:
- English proficiency
- Proficiency in French or Dutch. Knowledge of the two is an asset
- Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
- Skilled/experienced in office software (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, etc.)
